A Federal Consistency Certification has been submitted to the DNREC Coastal Management Program (DCMP) for the following: Broadkill Beach Dune Realignment (2025.0034)
The DNREC Division of Watershed Stewardship proposes to utilize a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 408 authorization to realign a one-mile section of dune at Broadkill Beach, Sussex County, DE to the current shoreline orientation. All project work will occur above the mean high tide line and will entail shifting the existing dune landward, redistributing sand to reconstruct the eroded center section of Broadkill Beach, and removing the existing scarping at beach access points. The proposed activity is subject to review for consistency under the policies of the DNREC DCMP.
